MBU Runners Compete At Panther Invitatiaonal

RICHMOND - The Mary Baldwin cross country teams competed Friday at the Panther Invitational hosted by Virginia Union. The women placed second and the men fourth at the event.

Mary Baldwin placed five runners in the Top 12, including three in the Top 10 to place second among four women's teams. Virginia State swept the first five spots to win the women's meet.

Alyssa Epperson paced the Mary Baldwin women with a sixth-place finish, running the course in 21:08.8. Kensley Smith was close behind in eighth place with a time of 21:54.5.

MBU's final three runners finished in the 10-12 positions, led by Johannah Dillaway with a time of 24:01.6 in 10th place. Brianna Parker was 11th in 24:13.9, just ahead of Anastasia Bunting in 12th place with a time of 24:28.4.

Brendan Pligger paced the men's team with a time of 29:30.2 to take eighth-place overall. Jake English just missed a Top 10 finish, taking 11th place with a time of 30:03.9. Connor Hockman was next for the Squirrels, running 32:24.4 to finish 15th. Christopher Kirksey placed 23rd with a time of 32:52.9, just one spot ahead of teammate Din Rayche with a time of 32:58.2.
